Eight Delectable Disney Parks Treats For National Ice Cream Day

eddpt123456Why do we love ice cream so much? Sunday, July 20, is National sites Ice Cream Day, declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, and we’re happy for the pure joy of a dripping ice cream cone on a hot summer day.
Disney Parks fans know the gooey Kitchen Sink Sundae, the irresistible Dole Whip and ice-cold Mickey Mouse bar. And we’ve all picked a favorite flavor for a double scoop from Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor at Disneyland park or Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort . But for National Ice Cream Day, we’re stepping out with some ice cream creations you may not have tried.
Here are eight favorites that are a little more creative than a double dip of vanilla or chocolate:

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on National Ice Cream Day, order the Sundae Sampler, a mini-trio with Frangelico toffee mousse, a float with root-beer flavored ice cream and homemade vanilla soda and a “banana split” (mousse, fresh roasted pineapple, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, candied peanuts, chocolate sauce and a cherry). You won’t want to share.
Run, don’t walk, to try the chocolate macaron sandwich at L’Artisan des Glaces at the France pavilion at Epcot . A crunchy chocolate cookie sandwich with dark chocolate ice cream made right there, it’s simply divine. There are 16 flavors, but, seriously, that chocolate-chocolate sensation is a must. Another favorite? The hand-pressed brioche ice cream sandwich.
Try something different at the new Morocco Juice Bar at Epcot World Showcase, where the chef is making bold ice cream flavors like chocolate and cinnamon, green tea, pistachio with orange blossom water (our favorite), strawberry and red bean, and toasted almond with rosewater.
For a Magic Kingdom pick-me-up, grab the latte iced coffee float at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland. (The kids can get a caramel or hot fudge sundae.)
At Disneyland Resort , we always make a stop at Clarabelle’s at Disney California Adventure park for the hand-dipped ice-cream bar. Choose vanilla, chocolate or mixed berry sorbet, ask for it dipped in milk or dark chocolate, then add a flourish of toppings like chocolate chips or rainbow sprinkles. Made on the spot while you watch.
Get fancy at Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with a single, double or triple scoop of artisanal ice creams: Scharffen Berger chocolate chunk, Tahitian vanilla bean or creamy California strawberry. The Napa Rose pastry chefs churn it out fresh.
If you’re strolling Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, stop at Uva Bar for a homemade ice-cream milkshake. We recommend the s’mores flavor. Or if a root beer float is more to your liking, they make theirs with Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and craft root beer.
We’ve got a soft spot for cobbler a la mode, and some of the best is at Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue – fresh fruit (whatever’s in season) baked in a skillet with a crunchy topping and vanilla ice cream. Grab at least two spoons and share.

Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando Rocked By Employee Sex Sting Arrests, Cnn Reports |

(AP) View/Post Comments This is not the family friendly face that Orlando theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orland and SeaWorld Orlando want to show to the world. Instead, the theme parks are being rocked today by a CNN investigation that reveals some 42 staffers across the three parks have been arrested in sex stings or for child porn charges since 2006. According to the report , the arrest breakdown is as follows: 35 staffers from Walt Disney World, along with five from Universal Studios Orlando and two more from SeaWorld Orlando. Of that total, 32 have been found guilty, eight have been found not guilty and two have not entered a plea, CNN reported. The report revealed a diversity of suspects — some married with children, a pastor, others working with children for years, USAToday wrote. However, most of those featured in the CNN report appeared to reach their potential targets through the Internet and child pornography websites, the newspaper said. Many of the suspects were nabbed as they traveled to meet someone who they thought was an underage child, but in actuality was a detective working with law enforcement, USAToday noted. However, Disney defended its employee pre-screening process to CNN: “We have extensive measures in place, including pre-employment and ongoing criminal background checks and computer monitoring and firewalls,” Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler said in a statement “The numbers reported by CNN represent one one-hundredth of one percent of the 300,000 people we have employed during this time period.” Does this report shake your confidence in the family friendly nature of theme parks? Why or why not?

Five Things You Might Have Missed In Critter Country At Disneyland Park

Making the MagicTomorrow is the 25th anniversary of Splash Mountain at Disneyland park. When the attraction opened on July 17, 1989, the surrounding area transformed into Critter Country , the woodland home of many favorite critters. Today, we’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of this land with five fun details you may have missed while exploring this shaded corner of Disneyland park.
1. Fowler’s Harbor –
Near the entrance of Critter Country, you’ll find Fowler’s Harbor – named for Admiral Joe Fowler, who oversaw the construction of Disneyland park in the 1950s. This small harbor is home to the Sailing Ship Columbia or the Mark Twain Riverboat when they are not cruising the Rivers of America .

2. Max, Buff & Melvin from Country Bear Jamboree – Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood, you can find a tribute to former Disneyland park attraction, Country Bear Jamboree. I don’t want to give it away completely, but Max, Buff & Melvin, the three talking trophy heads from the show, have taken up residence inside The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh . Look for these beloved characters in the scene where Winnie the Pooh enjoys his favorite treat, honey.
3. Pooh Corner – As you exit The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, follow the pathway straight into Pooh Corner. Here you’ll see the story of the attraction continues into the shops of Critter Country! Banners celebrating Pooh’s birthday are hung from the ceiling, and other elements from his fantasy decorate the location. Don’t forget a Tigger Tail on your way out!
4. Rufus the bear in Bear Country – Before Critter Country image source opened, this area of Disneyland park was known as Bear Country (and before that, it was part of Frontierland). Near the entrance, you could hear Rufus the bear snoring inside a cliffside cave just past the Haunted Mansion . When Splash Mountain opened in 1989, there was a small nod to this sleeping bear inside the attraction, right before the first waterfall. Today, listen for Brer Bear snoring in the same spot and it might sound vaguely familiar …
5. America Sings cast at Splash Mountain –
Some of the characters from the former America Sings attraction have been re-cast to play supporting roles in Splash Mountain! Look for some of the characters welcoming Brer Rabbit home and singing about a “zip-a-dee-do-dah” day.
